About Savage Gems

The purpose of Savage Gems is to provide its customers with original and personalized jewelry pieces. Our goal is to make the customer happy and content with their purchase; be it a custom order or a Savage Gems original creation. Most of our items are one-of-a-kind and won't be reproduced the same way twice. The only exception to this are our chain maille and general seed bead patterns. Pieces with reproducible patterns are open to personalization by the customer.

Behind the Scenes

Savage Gems is owned and operated by Rachel Savage, a self taught jewelry artist, residing in Wyoming. She is always ready to learn something new, or find interesting ways to use found objects in pieces. Sometimes the hardest part is getting her to try not to keep everything she makes.

Her pieces have placed in the annual Fire Mountain Gems and Beads Beading Contest:
Nautica Past & Present - 1st place, wire work category, 2005-2006 contest
Jasper Harvest - 2nd place, jump ring category, 2007-2008 contest
Barbarian Queen - 1st place, jump ring category, 2008-2009 contest
These and other pieces from her private collection can be seen in the Private Collection Gallery. She is also working on new pieces to submit to the 2008-2009 contest this year.

She also taught an Intro to Wire Wrapping class at Casper College during the spring 2007 semester. It was a fun and rewarding experience that she hopes to continue in the future...just as soon as she finishes being a student herself, graduating in May 2008 with a double associates in Geology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
